Talk About Tea Fishing and Cans!

Talk About Tea Fishing and Cans!:

I confess that I have a thing for quirky everyday items. On first glance they may seem unnecessary and frivolous but if you dig deeper, you cultivate the fine art of design appreciation. I have picked four of my favorite from the Yanko Design Store, and I am sure you will agree that all four are surefire hit as conversation starters!

Cuppa Can by Thabto [ Buy it Here ]

An elegant double walled porcelain mug shaped like a regular soda can! It comes with a silicone lid to contain the piping hot brew.

My Eco Can by PLA STUDIO [ Buy it Here ]

My Eco Can is an eco friendly reusable water bottle shaped like a regular soda can. It is crafted from natural corn starch and is durable enough to be your thirst quencher for a very long time. Works good with hot as well as cold beverages.

Tea Fishing by AbelPartners Design Studio [ Buy it Here ]

Love the way this tea bag holder solves the problem of tea bag placements in your hot cuppa brew!

Tea Diver by AbelPartners Design Studio [ Buy it Here ]

Tea Diver is is inspired by the shape of Korean traditional diver, Meoguri, which only relies on a string of Oxygen tank to explore the deep sea.

This is Too Good Not to Post:

FrankyZapata-DolphinJetpack.jpg

We've seen plenty of extreme action sports videos before (thanks largely to the GoPro video camera), but jetskier Franky Zapata's ridiculously awesome "Dolphin Jetpack" hit the waves and the web last weekend and it is, as they say, a doozy.

As Kottke notes, the apparatus imparts Iron Man-like superpowers to the otherwise mild-mannered athlete.

Thanks to our Core77 Design Awards intern Marko for the tip.

I’m Yo-Yo Over This!

I’m Yo-Yo Over This!:

It’s not the first time you heard us warn you about the repercussions of sitting on the computer for too long. Stiff back, sore wrists, numb legs….the list is endless! Looks to me that we all need a YoYo Mouse! This cute concept forces you to get up and do some Yo-Yo tricks to re-energize it because the battery drains out fast! Works best for me be, given that my wireless mouse runs out of battery ever so often!

Mobile Homes

Mobile Homes:

People that visit my studio most certainly notice Mobile Homes that hangs over my desk. It’s one of my favorite items in my office. (Who said you can’t have a mobile over your desk?) It’s by Brooklyn based designer Ben Light and it has not been for sale anywhere, until now. I talked Ben into making a limited edition series and put it up in my brand new swissmiss shop.

Mobile Homes is hand-made by Ben himself, here in Brooklyn. You can see photos of the building process. One of these will go up in my sons room this christmas. Can’t wait.

Get it while you can.

Makedo Christmas Tree

Makedo Christmas Tree:

I am a big fan of Makedo. Their instructions on how to make a christmas tree made me smile. All you need is a Makedo KIT for THREE and some reclaimed cardboard. View and download instructions for the Makedo Christmas Tree.

Alien Artifact or Lamp?

Alien Artifact or Lamp?:

The TOTO Twins lamp series looks more like missing components to an alien spacecraft than a lamp! You’ll dig this lamp if you’re into futuristic style that’s even a little strange. The first of the two lamps consists of two sculptural parts and an asymmetrical “head” that rotates to create various levels of light intensity. The second lamp’s fluid, metallic top hovers above and appears to drip onto the industrial looking sculptural body below.
